Iringa Regional Commissioner, Kheri James, has commended the investment made in Golden Glow Hotel, located in Kihodombi, Isakalilo Ward, Iringa Municipality, saying the investment will help boost the tourism sector and the economy of the region.

Kheri James made the remarks during the official launch of the hotel, where he explained that the availability of quality accommodation services is important in encouraging tourists and visitors coming to Iringa to stay longer instead of travelling to neighbouring regions in search of such services.

He said Iringa has numerous tourist attractions and various economic opportunities, making it important to continue investing in hotels, transport and other services related to tourism.

“This investment is important because it gives tourists visiting Iringa a good place to stay, increasing the possibility of them remaining here instead of travelling to neighbouring regions in search of accommodation,” he said.

The Regional Commissioner urged residents of Iringa who live outside the region to return and take advantage of the available opportunities by investing in various sectors, emphasizing that the development of the region requires the active participation of its own people.

He said the government has continued to create a conducive environment for investment and urged citizens to take advantage of these opportunities instead of relying solely on investors from outside the region.

“It is the responsibility of the people of Iringa Region to take advantage of the available opportunities and invest. The government has continued to create a favourable investment environment, so citizens should use these opportunities for their own development and for the development of the region as a whole,” he said.

Kheri James also highlighted the completion of the construction of Iringa Airport as a major opportunity for residents and business people, saying the passenger terminal building is in its final stages of completion.

He said the airport could increase the number of tourists, business people and investors visiting Iringa, which would consequently increase demand for various services.

He urged residents to start preparing to take advantage of these opportunities by investing in hotels, restaurants, transportation, tourism, guest houses and other related services.

“The major opportunity at the moment is the completion of the construction of Iringa Airport. The passenger terminal building is nearing completion, so it is the responsibility of the people of Iringa Region to take advantage of this opportunity. If we delay, visitors will take advantage of these opportunities,” he said.

He further said investment in the hotel sector is part of efforts to strengthen tourism in the region, stressing the importance of cooperation between the private sector and the government in making effective use of available economic opportunities.

Kheri James said the Sixth Phase Government under President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has continued to create a favourable investment environment in the country, urging citizens to use the opportunities to build the economies of their families, communities and the nation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Golden Glow Hotel Director, Ernest Mtavilalo, thanked the Regional Commissioner for accepting the invitation to become the guest of honour and officially launch the hotel.

Mtavilalo said the launch was highly significant to him and his family, explaining that the completion of the project was the result of a journey that required perseverance, advice, love and cooperation.

“I thank God for enabling us to reach this important day of the official launch of Golden Glow Hotel. It is a day that means a great deal to me and my family,” he said.

He expressed special appreciation to his family, particularly his wife and brother, for standing by him throughout the journey.

“I would like to thank my family, especially my wife and my brother, for standing with me throughout this journey. It was not an easy journey, but your love, advice, patience and support played a major role in making this dream a reality,” he said.

He also thanked the technicians, engineers and everyone who participated in the construction and preparations of the hotel, saying each person contributed to the successful completion of the project.

Mtavilalo said Golden Glow Hotel is not merely a building to him, but a dream that has become a reality and a commitment to providing employment opportunities and contributing to the development of the Iringa community.

“To me, Golden Glow is not just a building; it is a dream that has become a reality and our commitment to providing employment and contributing to the development of our community here in Iringa,” he said.

He said the hotel aims to provide services to visitors coming to Iringa while contributing to the growth of economic activities in the region.

Mtavilalo concluded by thanking leaders, invited guests, relatives, friends and all those who attended the ceremony, saying their presence made the occasion a special one.

Iringa District Commissioner, Benjamin Sitta, said the launch of Golden Glow Hotel has increased investment in the hospitality sector in the district and created more opportunities for employment and accommodation services for visitors.

He also emphasized the importance of residents taking advantage of investment opportunities emerging from the growth of tourism and the development of infrastructure in the region.
